Stella's fella messed up her groove

Let me start out by saying I've only read one book by Terry McMillan. I guess i'm biased considering all of her books lend themselves to the Lifetime or Oxygen networks for women set. From the profiles and reviews I've read online, it's pretty easy to see that each of her books are disections of her own life. It's like saying "I just sold 200 pages of my diary for $4 million dollars!" Way to air the laundry, sister.

But lets get down and dirty on the real issue...ol' dude, Jon Plummer. Oddly enough, Mr. Plummer wants to clean out her wallet and not take care of her "pipes."

We all know the story by now. It's the classic girl meets guy, guy seduces girl, girl marries guy, guy gets caught with another guy, girl puts him out and files for divorce thing. To get the 411 on the matter, a few weeks ago I watched the now infamous interview of Ms. McMillan on Tavis Smiley's talk show. Talk about a bitter-looking woman, she was pissed personified. Terry looked as if she was ready to stab Tavis because her heart (which has been on her sleeves since forever) was ripped out by her husband, a young, do nothing, nobody that just so happened to convince her to not only marry him, but inspired her to write a tell-all about the matter that netted her a cool couple of millions and a blockbuster movie...how dare he!

Well the book got one thing right, it was fiction. Ol' dude was working it to get his get-off-the-island free card along with an allowance, the prospect of meeting Mr. right on the DL and playing Ms. writer. Now she's all riled up because her deadbeat is trying to get his half of the assets, common in California divorce preceedings. They had a prenup, but he's contesting on grounds he didn't know what he was signing. Damn the king's English...always trying to hold a brotha back.

In every picture I've ever seen of ol' dude he looks shady. He's the kind of person who never really looks at you, but what's going on around him. Now, if I can see that (and yeah i'm saying it, I was right!) from a picture in Jet magazine, she should have been able to see that too since she's all up in his mug all the damn time. But I guess Mr. Plummer lays some mad pipe, obviously the head banging sex caused all kinds of lapse in judgement and common sense. In doing so, he got all kinda benefits from the deal. And isn't that what it's all about at this point, she got macked and now she's mad because of it?

Now, the main problem - he's got a lover, a male lover! That's not only a slap in the face, it's like a kick in the nads...if women had them. Even music genius Prince doesn't like that scenario. Don't believe me, check out the lyrics to Eternity written by Prince for Sheena Easton. It's simple, infidelity should be just as pure as the institution in compromises. Adam and Steve is apparently wrong no matter how you sum it up.

Can't imagine that she's happy knowing her competition is a guy either. At least with another woman she be confident in the knowledge that she had bigger jugs or can whip that pole like no other, but she ain't got a chance in Hell if he's looking to give head and not get head.

Since the discovery of ol' dude's dude, Terry has been on personal crusade to oust DL brothers for misleading sisters with their web of lies. A footnote to this, she's also preaching, oddly enough, knowing your spouce.

In my humble opinion, Terry was S.O.S (Stuck On Stupid) for doing something like marrying the deadbeat in the first place. She knew nothing about this guy. He was nothing but her kept boy toy and she should have taken those rose-colored glasses off a long damn time ago. "What happens in the islands, stays in the islands" is the lesson learned from all this. But unfortunately, she brought her trophy home, only to find it was tarnished...and all the polishing she tried to do, couldn't clean him up.

Check out the transcript of Terry McMillan's interview on Tavis Smiley's talk show and judge (her) for yourself.
