What's what on a monday night

Last week, I had the opportunity to meet DJ Emmerald during an interview session at The Mark Ultralounge (9 Poplar St , Atlanta). If you don't know, this cool and collected vinyl wizard is not only very attractive, but blends a heavenly mix of old school house and neo-grooves that you can't help but move to. During the interview she mentioned that she's spining at a new venture here in the city, "Let them eat cake" upstairs in the loft at Javaology (466 Edgewood Ave.).

Well now it's Monday, and I had to come check out the vibe. Let me just say that from the corner of Boulevard and Edgewood, you can hear some serious mixing and mashing taking place... I was already changing my step to a stride, this was gonna be a good session to sit in on.

After ordering a mango tea smoothy, I headed upstairs to partake in the festivities. There were maybe 10 people "WIFI'ing" as I am now and a few friends of the dj. Nonetheless, the loft, as always instantly puts you at ease and sets you right to get your vibe on. Emmerald did her part too, with a healthy dose of neo-soul infused classic New York house cuts.

I was able to take a few pics of her and my co-worker Carlton Hargro, host of the Audiofloss Podcast. I must admit I wanted to take more pics of her, she's just real and gives off an aura that's just irresistable. We had to take care of some business, I'm trying to get Creative Loafing to sponsor some labels to giveaway some of the CDs on our website and events. Hold your breath on that, but I'm gonna try anyway.

Well, it's go time, she's packing up and I'm ready to grab something to eat. Please check out both DJ Emmerald's "Let them eat cake" and come have a cup of Joe at Javaology.
